THE Hexham Salvation Army team and pupils from Dilston College are delighted to be welcoming back their weekly lunches.

Catering pupils from Dilston College have been heading to the Salvation Army Hall in Hexham for over 10 years to cook for members of the community.

But before this year’s summer holidays, the lunches came to an end due to a timetabling issue at the college.

Thankfully, the Dilston College students are now able to attend again and the lunches will resume from Tuesday, November 8.

Eunich Blakey, the Salvation Army officer in charge of the lunches, said: “People were really disappointed when we had to stop the lunches, so we’re really happy that we can get them back up and running again.

“They are an important part of the community.

“Anybody can come along and it’s a good way to get out and have a bit of company and a good natter.

“The students are lovely. They always provide a varied menu and have a good chat to the people who have came along – it’s a good way for them to get more experience too.”

Anyone who wants to attend is welcome and they can just turn up at 11.30am at the Salvation Army Hall on Market Street Hexham.

It costs £2.50 for the two course lunch plus tea or coffee and orange juice.
