TYNEDALE publican and super car enthusiast David Harding organised an event with a difference in Humshaugh on Sunday.
As the brains behind events such as Newcastle’s NE1 car show and the Fastlane car show, held annually in the district, David turned his hand to organising his first agricultural machinery gathering when his pub, the Crown Inn, hosted a tractor day.
“It came about after some of the locals pointed out that most of the pictures on the walls of the pub are of fancy cars and not the regulars,” laughed David.
“So I took that as a challenge and we set a date, after the harvest, to get everyone together and give the local kids a chance to climb into some of the machines.”
And after setting up an event page for the tractor day on Facebook, the gathering grew and attracted 15 tractors from across the district, including two brand new demonstrator models from Carrs Billington and Rickerby in Hexham.
“We had everything from the very latest models to a 50 year old Massey Ferguson,” said David.
“Good fun was had by all and people travelled from all over the North-East to have a look.”
