DELAYS with final fixtures and fittings have put back the opening of Hexham's new 24-hour petrol station until early November.

Operator Euro Garages confirmed work to recruit staff for the 60 to 65 jobs created at the site's new Spar convenience store, Starbucks drive thru, and food-to-go concessions of Subway and Greggs, was under way.

However, finishing touches to the new premises, originally expected to open in August, are taking longer than expected.

Planners granted permission in March for the 16-bay BP fuel station on the former Fewster's agricultural suppliers site at Bridge End.

The facility will include public toilets, three jet washes, 50 parking spaces and a free cash machine.
