THE brand new kitchen at Whitley Chapel parish hall was unveiled during an evening of entertainment on Saturday.
Whitley Chapel Young Farmers and the Stocksfield Stompers entertained a crowd of more than 100 people.
In the interval, county councillor Colin Horncastle, dressed up as a chef, unveiled the kitchen, which has been completed at a cost of £17,400.
Coun. Horncastle had kindly donated £4,500 towards the cost from the County Council Members’ Local Improvement Scheme Initiative.
Other grants were received from the White Stuff Foundation, the Joicey Trust, the Winter Family Grassroots Fund and the John Bell Fund.
The evening was held to raise further funds for the hall refurbishment fund, which is now raising money for improvements to the stage, including new curtains and stage blocks.
Coun. Austin Iliffe. of Hexhamshire Parish Council and trustee of the parish hall, said: “There were over 100 people there. It was a great night featuring music and entertainment – a good community event to raise money for stage improvements.”
The night raised £1,000, having already received a £1,500 boost thanks to Hexhamshire WI, which also provided a supper on the night.
