NORTHUMBERLAND College is just weeks away from opening a new campus in Hexham town centre.

Officials confirmed this week that a new base on Cattle Market will open next month, specialising in hair and beauty training courses.

It follows an announcement from the college last year that all travel and tourism courses would be delivered from the Kirkley Hall campus, near Ponteland, from September 2016. And the college says the move will not have an impact on the existing Creative Guild partnership with the Queen’s Hall.

A spokeswoman said: “The Northumberland College centre at St Mary’s Wynd closed on April 1, ahead of the Easter break.

“A new centre will open at Cattle Market to clients on May 1 and a little earlier to staff and students.

“The new centre will focus on hair and beauty training with eight hair stations and nails on the ground floor and eight further beauty areas on first floor, plus classrooms for theory and English and maths.”

The St Mary’s Wynd premises are advertised as available for rent.
