A HEXHAM parent and baby group has raised £200 for a local charity, helping to make a positive difference to the lives of young cancer patients.

Hexham Trinity Parent and Baby Group, based at Hexham Methodist Church on Beaumont Street, has been raising money for Josie’s Dragonfly Trust through a piggy bank collection.

Josie’s Dragonfly Trust provides cash gifts or dragonfly dreams to young cancer patients with limited time.

Parents attending the baby and toddler group, which runs every Monday morning in term time, were able to pop any spare change into the piggy bank, and the group soon raised £200 to donate.

Josie’s Dragonfly Trust volunteer Katrin Auld is a past user of the baby and toddler group and picked up the cheque on behalf of the charity.

“The baby and toddler group is held in the church hall; there are toys and breastfeeding areas and people can go along to have a chat,” she explained.

“I used to go when I had my daughter and it was very important for me.

“It’s nice for Josie’s Dragonfly Trust to have the local connection with the families in Hexham.

“It is now a big charity, but it’s still Hexham-based and it’s nice that local groups want to support it.

“Donations like this are really important and help towards everything they do.”
