HEXHAM ceramic artist Sue Dunne has won this year’s competition at the international Potfest in the Park festival.

Competitors travelled from all over Europe, and in some cases Japan, to take part in the increasingly-prestigious event whcih is held in the grounds of the Hutton-in-the-Forest stately home near Penrith.

The theme for the competition was Biblical and Sue’s entry was a ceramic Bible, lying open at the first page of illuminated manuscript.

She said: “It’s a brilliant event and there were more than 100 potters from all over Europe – there was even a potter from Slovenia this year – so I was delighted when they told me I’d won.”

She’s equally pleased that her prize includes a free stand at next year’s event, which in itself is worth £400.
