AN exhibition previewing proposed new signage for Hexham is to be held in the town on Tuesday.

Hexham Business Improvement District (BID) is hosting a drop-in day for people living and working in the town to learn more about the new signage project.

The issue has been one of the BID’s top priorities since it was established last year, and it recently commissioned a wayfinding study undertaken by local firm Differentia.

Now Differentia’s findings, plans and ideas are to be unveiled at a drop-in event between 11am and 4pm at the Queen’s Hall on Beaumont Street.

“Many of the signs were out of date, were missing or pointing the wrong way and there is a huge problem with visitors coming into Hexham and not being able to find their way around,” explained BID manager Helen Grayshan.

“We wanted to make sure the town is well catered for and we needed a plan to create new signs which would be informative and well-designed, but were in keeping with Hexham’s heritage.”

Visitors will be able to give their feedback on the plans, ideas and colour schemes at the exhibition, which will then all be considered by the design team.
