IT was a night of Hollywood glamour that raised £2,500 for charity.

Oscar Night at the Forum was a themed fashion show at Hexham’s art deco cinema to both celebrate the picture house’s 80th anniversary and raise funds for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.

The sell-out show was organised by Hexham’s vintage fashion collector Gaby Sutton, whose grand daughter Imogen, was born with a life-threatening liver condition.

Thankfully Imogen, now 11, was successfully treated at St James’ University Hospital in Leeds and she gave her own Oscar-winning performance at the event earlier this month, modelling an American Victory dress from the Second World War.

CLDF chief executive Alison Taylor said: “We rely entirely on voluntary donations, so Gaby’s fund-raising means a great deal to us.

“Over the years, through putting on a series of fantastic events, she has raised almost £29,000, an incredible amount for which we are truly grateful.

“Gaby’s commitment to fund-raising has enabled us to continue to make a real difference to families throughout the UK who are affected by childhood liver disease, for which there is still no cure.

“The Children’s Liver Disease Foundation is the only UK charity dedicated to fighting all childhood liver diseases. We do this by providing information to families and to health professionals, emotional support for families and young people, funds for research and a voice for everyone affected.”
