EXTENSIVE damage was caused to a property in Hexham following a fire on Tuesday.
A fire broke out in a house in Langley Avenue at 12.40pm, causing a lot of damage to the ground floor with smoke damage throughout the property.
The fire broke out in the kitchen and spread to the garage, and the occupant of the house was alerted of the fire by the smoke alarm.
Three fire appliances, one from Prudhoe and two from Tyne and Wear, attended and extinguished the fire after an hour.
Nobody was injured and fire officers are putting the cause down to an ‘accidental ignition’.
