SKILL sessions are being rolled out to children aged between four and eight in Hexham.

Haltwhistle‘s David Ballantyne, who runs feet4football, is introducing weekly Tynedale Mini-Dribbler classes at Hexham Priory School on Saturday mornings.

And he is offering children the chance to try before they buy with a free taster session on February 13, the sessions running weekly from then. Classes for four to six year olds will run at 9am, followed by sessions for six to eight year olds at 9.45am.

David runs similar ventures in both Newcastle and Carlisle, and believes it will work in the Tyne Valley too.

He said: “Some of the boys who took part in those sessions have gone on to elite classes and they are signing on for academies, so hopefully we might get a few from Tynedale.

“They will work towards the elite academy at Haydon Bridge, but the emphasis at mini dribblers is all on fun and enjoyment with the ball.”
