PUPILS at St Joseph’s Middle School in Hexham have given their support to a local cancer charity by adopting a planter.

Located at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, the Daft as a Brush containers are emblazoned with the names of the North-East schools which have taken on the task of filling them full of colour to brighten up a courtyard used by patients.

Pupils from St Joseph’s, including year seven pupils Daniel Hurst, Seb Homer and Fraser Brook, were among those from other local schools given a tour of the centre recently, before planting out their own displays.

Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care provides a free transport service to and from the Freeman and RVI hospitals for outpatients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment.
