CHARTING higher than pop princess Taylor Swift is every up-and-coming young pop star’s dream.

And it became a reality for 15-year-old Anna Harrison, of Allendale, whose charity single Moments, recorded in support of Stuart Ridley, made the iTunes Top 40 at the weekend.

Supporters of the Stay Strong Stu campaign, set up to raise funds in the name of Stuart Ridley who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in February, downloaded the talented singer’s debut hit in their thousands to send it to number 33 in the charts.

Anna said: “It was a bit of a blur really. We put it on iTunes and wanted it to be shared a couple of times. We never ever thought it would make the charts!”

Anna has been blown away by the support for the single, but more importantly for 25-year-old Stuart.

She was touched by his stoicism in his battle after being given just six months to live.

She said: “I wanted to help any way I could, but the only thing I could think of was through a song.

“Seeing how positive he and his family are is really inspiring, so I had to think of a way to help.”

All proceeds from the downloads and sales of the single are going to the Stay Strong Stu campaign.

Anna will perform the song live at this weekend’s Stu’s Super Sunday event at Tynedale Rugby Club, in Corbridge.

l Anna will feature in the next instalment of the Hexham Courant’s Sound Check, which includes a video session, due out on May 29.
