THOSE caught up in a three-car crash in Hexham escaped with minor injuries.

The collision closed a stretch of a busy road into the town for over two hours on Friday, May 5.

Police, paramedics and police were called to the scene shortly after 11am.

Three cars had collided outside the entrance to St Andrew's Cemetery on the B6351.

Though it is not clear how many people were involved, police say only minor injuries were sustained.

All three cars, a Vauxhall, a Citroen and a Jaguar, had to be towed away from the crash scene.

The road between Hexham Golf Club and the A69 was closed until 1.30pm.
