A QUICK reminder that Sunday, November 29, is the day for “Making Christmas decorations” at an event in Tarset Village Hall (1pm for 1.30pm start until 3.30pm).

Everyone is very welcome and you will get the opportunity to make table decorations, garlands and more. Please bring evergreen foliage, ivy and any other suitable dried materials to make your decoration. Oasis and candle holders will be provided, but please bring your own candles. Refreshments will be available.

THERE will also be an Advent service at St Aidan’s Church, Thorneyburn, at 5pm on Sunday, November 29, so you’ll have time to make decorations beforehand if you wish!

The service celebrates the start of Advent and the Advent wreath will be lit. There will also be mini Advent wreaths to make for any children (or adults) who attend.

I HAVE been asked to say a huge thank you to all those who attended the curry night at Tarset Village Hall.

As a result of the fantastic local support, an impressive £523 was raised for Greenhaugh First School. The evening was a huge success and folk were very generous when buying raffle tickets.

Thanks must also go to Ronnie for what I understand was truly magnificent curry!

THE United Reformed Church, Falstone, would like to thank everyone who joined in with the recent mission, either helping or attending one of the events. Its members very much hope you enjoyed it.

THE churches are now getting ready for Christmas and the first event is “Carols in the courtyard” at Kielder Castle on Sunday, December 6, at 3pm.

Please come and enjoy singing your favourite carols. If it’s too wet or cold this event will be inside the castle.

The next event is on the Monday, December 7, at 7pm, when there will be “Carols at the Calvert Trust” and anyone is welcome to join in with this happy occasion.

ST Peter’s Church, Falstone, invites you to its Advent family communion service – with a special dedication of the new Altar linen – which will be taken by the Rev. Sheila Cameron on Sunday, November 29, at 11am.

Local children will be taking part in this special service, and all children attending will be presented with Advent cards.
