THE pub name may have changed, but the New Inn Leek Show continues to take place in Haltwhistle.

The Comrades’ Club hosted this year’s event, with no shortage of quality exhibits on display.

In first place was Dougy Makepeace. An entry of 155.19 cu ins earned Dougy best leek in show.

Michael Ridley was second with leeks of 151.85 cu ins, while Paul Makepeace came third with his entry of 131.115 cu ins.

The Norman Banks Memorial Shield, for most improved leeks, was won by show chairman Alan Findlay.

A prize hamper was won by Melvin Powley.

The leek club’s Ken Makepeace said: “The committee would like to thank Walter and Carol of the Comrades’ Club for their help and use of facilities on the day.”
