POLICE are urging the public to come forward with information on drug taking after reports of a child finding a discarded needle and syringe in Haltwhistle.
Officers were made aware of the discovery on West View last Thursday by a worried parent who reported that her young son had noticed the needle.
Tynedale Neighbourhood Sergeant Sue Hewitson said: “We would advise any members of the public who find discarded syringes to inform their local authority straightaway as it has responsibility for their safe removal.
“We would urge any member of the public who has information about drug taking or dealing in their area to contact us on 101.”
