CAWFIELDS Quarry near Haltwhistle will host a volunteering day for wildlife enthusiasts on Sunday, May 29.

Helpers are being sought to record all the different types of wildlife at the site.

It’s part of the Save our Magnificent Meadows Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and led by the wildlife charity, Plantlife, with the support of Northumberland Wildlife Trust.

The event will run from 6am until 10am and has been titled It’s a bioblitz inspired by the 1973 hit single The Ballroom Blitz, by Sweet.

Volunteers are required for different activities during the course of the day, including mammal spotting, minibeast hunting, plant identification, birdwatching, and bat walks.
