THERE is a Busking the Border event in Greenhead and Gilsland tomorrow and Sunday, June 21.

Among the attractions are the Hadrian Singers who will be singing outside the Forge Café in Greenhead at 1.15pm tomorrow.

They will then go on to Gilsland to perform outside the Mons Meg café.

THE annual ceilidh at Featherstone Village Hall will be held tomorrow. For tickets, which include supper, call (01434) 321035.

THIS year’s carnival will be spread over two days, with a vintage rally on Saturday, July 11, arriving in Haltwhistle at 3pm. There will be stalls and activities.

The parade will be on Sunday, July 12, and is still in need of entries, so let Jamie Patterson know if you want to participate.

The scarecrow competition is open as usual – entries need to be in by Saturday, July 4. Judging will be on Sunday, July 5.

Lots of other activities will be published, so watch out for posters around town and on the Facebook page.

THE Swimming and Leisure Centre is 40 years old this year and there will be an afternoon tea in St Wilfrid’s Church hall on Thursday, June 18, from 2pm until 4pm, to mark the occasion.

There will also be an exhibition of photographs and mementoes to view.

THE Drop-Ins will be hosting the coffee morning in the Methodist hall on Saturday, June 27.

The proceeds will help maintain their activities throughout the year; your support will be very welcome.

THE anniversary of Churches Together in Haltwhistle will be celebrated with a united service in St Cuthbert’s, Greenhead, at 6pm on Sunday, June 21. The preacher will be the Rev. Mary Elliot.

Anyone able to offer transport or requiring a lift should sign up on the noticeboard in the Methodist church.

GREG Atkinson and Jacob Robinson joined almost 100 Sainsbury’s colleagues and family members for a 5K walk around Saltwell Park in Gateshead.

They raised nearly £200 for Young and Sweet – Haltwhistle’s Youth Club – and would like to thank everyone who sponsored them.

THE coffee morning in the Methodist hall tomorrow will be in support of St Jude’s Church, Knarsdale. Cake stall, raffle etc. Everyone welcome.

CHIN-UP will be holding its abseil at Lambley viaduct over the South Tyne in Northumberland on Sunday, June 21. Why not go and support them?
