THE bowling club’s coffee morning is being held in the pavilion on Saturday, August 29, from 9.30am until 11.30am, and all are welcome.

THE coffee morning in the Methodist hall tomorrow is for the lunch club.

A TOTAL of £775.35 was raised for church funds at the Methodist Church coffee morning last Thursday.

A big thank you to everyone who supported them by baking, making coffee, serving coffee, setting up a stall or just turning up and drinking coffee.

THE art club, which meets each Friday in the Methodist hall, will be holding its annual exhibition there on Saturday, August 29.

Some of the paintings will be for sale as well as a range of hand-made greeting cards and small items. Everyone is welcome.

THE walking festival dates are from Saturday, October 3 until Sunday, October 11 inclusive.

The shorter walks include: Gilsland and its history; Beacons, bastles and loughs; Waters Meet and Warden Hill and a walk by Tipalt Burn with a national park ranger.

The longer walks include: Striding out South of the Tyne (a three-day linear walk from Corbridge to Haltwhislte); Mighty Geltsdale; Walk on the Wild Side (of the Wall) and the Maiden Way (14 miles from Bewcastle to Haltwhistle). Full details, as always, on www.haltwhistlewalkingfestival.org.

THERE will be a fund-raising prize bingo in aid of Crohn’s and Colitis UK on Sunday, August 30 at the Railway Hotel.

Eyes down at 3pm. A great way to start your bank holiday Sunday afternoon. Everyone welcome

CHIN-UP is holding a children’s fair in the hospital grounds on Sunday, August 23, from 1pm until 3pm.

There will be stalls and lots of activities for the children.

So go along, support a great charity and have a fun afternoon.

THE summer art club project Hobbit Hole is in full swing and runs throughout August, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 10am until 2pm, for all ages over eight years.

There will be a variety of workshops run by professional artists, including printing, painting and sculpture, on the theme of The Hobbit and an installation of a Hobbit hole in the SHED that will open to the public on Saturday, August 29, from 10am until 2pm.
