TYNEDALE Happy IN Europe will be hoping to deliver information to homes in Greenhead. Volunteers to help will be very welcome.

WE have heard very sad news of our famous ‘pie man’. Kenny Woods, who created the delicious hot pies so popular at our farmers’ market, has died.

Kenny was always keen to source the many varied ingredients for the pies from top quality local producers, including many of our stall holders.

He had another string to his bow, as he was an enthusiastic participant in historical re-enactments, which explains the splendid shields with which he decorated his stall at the market. We shall miss him.

THE programme of visits to vegetable gardens, run by the South Tyne Sustainability Group, continues with a visit on Tuesday to Tynedale Horticultural Service, at Ridley Hall.

There will be plants available to buy, but places are limited, so please book by phone on (01697) 747359 or by emailing sue@mosspeteral.com

The next expedition will be on July 2. Brochures are now widely available for the whole programme. All the events are free and everyone is welcome, from green-fingered experts to complete novices.

THE Greenhead, Gilsland & District Gardening Club is visiting Loughbrow House garden, near Hexham, on Tuesday evening.

Then, on Saturday, June 4, club members are holding a garden fete at Raise House, Gilsland, with many attractions, including a special tea, from 2pm to 5pm.

If it turns out to be very wet, the event will take a slightly different form in the village hall. All are welcome, with children under-12 free.

COPIES of the latest newsletter from the health centre in Haltwhistle are now available at the Old Forge Tea Room in Greenhead and in Gilsland Village Hall.
