TONIGHT is late night shopping in Haltwhistle, when the town will be aglow with Christmas lights, there’ll be carols around the tree and the children will be excited at the prospect of a visit from the man in red.

There’s also a chance to pop in and out of all the shops, the Partnership office, Whistle Art, etc. There should be a real buzz as local residents gather to enjoy themselves.

ON Sunday, November 29, the angels in St Cuthbert’s Church, Greenhead, will be on view from 12.30pm until 3pm.

If you can’t get there on Sunday, the church will also be open on Sunday, December 6, and Sunday, December 13.

ON Sunday, December 13, it’s the superb Christmas farmers’ and craft market in the village all morning, with the crafts market –which is run by South Tyne Sustainability – carrying on until 3pm.

THERE are no definite date yet for the screening of the episode from Tales of Northumberland with Robson Green, which features the village, but please make a mental note to look out for it!

Chatting to Michael and Lee Simpson when they dropped into the Old Forge tearoom last week, I was delighted to hear about Michael’s experiences of this popular television team’s visit to Blenkinsopp Castle and how they interviewed him.

It was not a decision he took lightly, but as it progressed Michael thoroughly enjoyed the extensive conversation he had with Robson Green, who he pronounced is “just a very nice chap”.

Michael revealed that the bird’s eye views in shows like this are filmed using a large camera mounted on a drone – an uncontroversial role for this invention. There were seven more positioned around the room as well!

THE Hadrian Singers will be at the castle on Thursday, December 3, for their final meeting of the year, singing and socialising!

Anyone impressed by the singing and their sense of fun at the concert last week and who would now like to join this very welcoming choir can contact Maureen at hartsofforest@btinternet.com or chat to any local choir member.
