TWO neighbouring parish councils have splashed out on sprucing up their communities.

Bardon Mill and Henshaw parish councils have jointly funded a new grass cutter, with the help of a contribution from county councillor Alan Sharp’s member’s fund.

The tractor-powered mower is for maintaining parish-owned grassed areas in both villages.

Henshaw parish council chairman Jeff Oliver said: “It just seemed to make sense to have one mower, and I think it’s a good investment.

“It’s already in use and we have seen the benefits in Bardon Mill and Henshaw this summer.

“We want to look after the areas we are responsible for as parish councillors.

“It will keep the place looking neat and tidy for residents and visitors.”

The parish councils will rely on farmers and other volunteers to operate the new mower.
