ON Saturday, May 7, from 10am until midday in the village hall, there is a coffee morning which includes a buffet and refreshments to raise money for village events.

There will be a raffle, a tombola stall, a teddy tombola and also a cake stall.

This is an excellent way to meet your friends and neighbours in a relaxed setting.

ON Friday, May 13, we have another murder-mystery evening in the village hall: A Death by Fowl Means. You can get tickets from the village store, or ring Geeta to book them (01434) 344424.

Buy your tickets quickly and don that deerstalker promptly, for there will be no chickening out of this.

ON Saturday, May 29, we have Belshazzar’s Feast, an evening of folk, classical and jazz music performed by Paul Sartin and Paul Hutchinson, which promises an eclectic and even eccentric mix of tunes and songs which are guaranteed to send an audience home happy.

Tickets can be got from Geeta or the village store.

FRIENDS of Henshaw School have a fund-raising event where, for £1, you can choose a number between one and 1,000 and perhaps win a prize.

The money raised will be used to renew the playground markings. See the Friends of Henshaw School Facebook page or contact Debbie Finlayson for information.

LOOKING ahead to the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebrations in June, we have a tea party in the village hall on Sunday, June 12.

High tea will be served, and there will be plenty of games and entertainment.

FINALLY, if you have always fancied yourself as a golf player but never had an opportunity to whack those little white balls around, there will be a ‘have a go at golf’ session in the village hall on Thursday, June 18, from 6pm until 7pm, where you can test out those possibly innate Tiger Woods talents as a golfer.
