SINCEREST congratulations to local resident, Graham Gill, for his much deserved award of an OBE for his work at Kielder.

SUCH a pity that the curry and film night had to be cancelled last week due to insufficient support – the cost of hiring the film was going to be more than the proceeds from the tickets sold.

Perhaps this should be tried again later in the year when the nights draw in and other events do not distract?

SO, already 2015 has passed its midway point and we are still waiting for summer sunshine and warmer temperatures to arrive.

Let us hope that Wednesday, July 1 proves to be a pleasant summer day, for the children of Henshaw School have their annual trip out and will all be going to enjoy Druridge Bay.
