Limping my way into the new year

I AM limping today and all because I moved a chair three weeks ago. Accidents will always happen but inevitably at the most inconvenient times.
Just before the Christmas festivities I dropped part of that chair on my head. This resulted in a cut on the bridge of my nose and a bit of a black eye for a few days.
It was more of an irritation than anything else. I stopped wearing my specs around the house as they made my nose sore. Silly me, I should have known better.
In the rush to change the bed sheets, my knee collided with the corner leaving a considerable bruise.
Arnica came to the rescue. I made a New Year’s resolution to look where I was going and avoid any more mishaps.
As you may have guessed by now, that was not the end of this sad saga.
The paths have been treacherous over the past few days. Last Sunday morning, in the dark, I walked the dogs very carefully.
They were playful because of the frost and chased around like mad things. That was when the accident happened. As they hurtled about I tried to keep my sore knee safe. They tried to avoid me but as if drawn by some strange magnetic power we collided. I managed to stay upright but knees are not meant to bend both ways.
At first everything seemed in place. One day later and the swelling told me trouble was on the way. Now the swelling has gone down, the agony has set in.
Perhaps I should have let somebody else move the chair.
We often feel we walk on thin ice
As we struggle to stay upright
May we avoid things harmful
Finding someone to catch us when we fall
