THE owner of a Corbridge beauty salon is asking anyone with information to come forward after nearly £10,000 of stock and cash was stolen from her premises two weeks ago.

French Beauty Lounge in the Old Bakery Yard, Princes Street, had its door forced overnight between 5pm on November 29 and 7.45am the following day.

The majority of stock taken was of professional brands OPI and St Tropez, while two £700 lamps were taken and a day’s worth of takings plus £200 in cash were removed from the salon.

Owner Sally French was on holiday in Istanbul when the boutique salon was broken into, and said she was shocked to receive the phone call telling her of the news.

But her landlord was able to quickly sort out the safety of the premises while manager Stacey Noble and her partner Phil Suckling rallied together to get the salon back up and running – meaning they only closed for one day following the burglary.

Sally said: “We’re completely back up running now but we’re running on less stock. But we have loyal clients who were still interested and were still coming in afterwards despite that.

“More than anything I’m happy no-one was hurt, but we are unsure whether we will get it all back. I have been an OPI educator for nearly 10 years now and there are a lot of things you build up that can’t be replaced.

“This is the first time something like this has happened in Corbridge. I’ve had salons broken into in Newcastle, but you don’t expect it in a village like Corbridge.”

While Sally said she doesn’t believe the thieves were local, she urged anyone who was offered OPI products to come forward, as they might be the stolen.

The Scent Room, an independent shop selling perfumes, fragrances and candles, also in the Old Bakery Yard, was also burgled on the same night, when police say a large quantity of Ormonde Jayne and Connock London perfume, plus other items were stolen.

Northumbria Police say no arrests have been made. A spokesman for the force said: “Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist police in identifying the offenders.”

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Hexham police station on 101.
