CONGRATULATIONS and thanks to everyone involved in organising the jumble sale last Saturday at which an amazing sum was raised for the church cottage refurbishment fund.

THIS is your last reminder that Broomhaugh First School is hosting an auction of promises tomorrow in the parish hall at 7pm, for an 8pm start.

Tickets may still be available if you contact Emily Bonner on 07810 200665 or Helen Yates on 07939 632745.

The ‘promises’ are exciting and varied and the refreshments sound delicious, so do support this fund-raising event if you can.

MORE entertainment is on offer in the Millennium Hall tomorrow at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

You may remember acoustic folk band Fool’s Gold, who kindly played at the Music in the Park event in June.

They are returning to the village to present Stories With Strings.

The concert will be informal and intimate.

Tickets are priced purely to pay the musicians, so bring your own refreshments and enjoy the atmosphere.

Please let me know if you wish to attend, as Steve and Carol Robson have been so kind to support the village in the past and I may need to cancel this event if they don’t have the audience they deserve.

GIFTS of non-perishable food will once again be collected at the harvest services in St James’ and the Methodist Church on Sunday, October 11.

This food will be distributed to needy families (local and refugee) in the Benwell area of Newcastle.

All contributions will be welcome.

A FEW new enthusiasts have kindly contacted me to enrol for Zumba classes, but we still don’t have enough to start the group again on a Wednesday afternoon, from 2pm until 3pm.

Classes are postponed until I know the demand is there.

ANNIE and Cecilia Bridges would like to invite you to an early gift and Christmas shopping evening in the Millennium Hall from 7pm, on Wednesday, October 14.

As a thank you to their customers, they are offering 50 per cent off Lois and Fred jewellery and gifts.

You are invited to enjoy a glass of wine and there will be a raffle in aid of Remembering Rory (supporting Tommy’s – funding medical research into miscarriage, premature birth and still birth).

FINALLY, Paul Goldsmith has asked me to pass on his thanks to everyone who contributed to the Tour of Britain decorations. The village did look splendid, didn’t it!

TO contact me, email pampryor@btinternet.com or telephone (01434) 682927.
