AFTER last week’s village notes reminder, I hope you have managed to reserve your tickets for forthcoming events, the first of which is Sunday Jazz at Twilight in the parish Hall on Sunday at 6.30pm.

With vocals by Minnie Fraser and Pam Jackson, Dave Parker on bass and Peter Ninnim on drums, Marc Bryant and Camille Mazarelo playing jazz duos plus Choral Swing with Noteworthy during the interlude, what a fun way to complete your weekend. Oh yes – there’s a bar too!

If you still haven’t booked your seat, please contact Minsteracres on (01434) 673248, call into the Forum Bookshop in Corbridge or telephone (01434) 632931.

If all this fails, just turn up on the evening and pay at the door but, to ensure your comfort, numbers would be preferred.

THE Tyne Valley Youth Theatre group will be working away in our Millennium Hall all week to produce another of their signature projects – A Play in a Week.

Young people take a given theme and work alongside theatre professionals to explore issues, characters and story lines arising from the theme to create a new piece of original theatre.

The inspiration for this project is Roald Dahl’s The Twits.

Their production is performed at the end of the week, on Saturday, August 29. For tickets visit the TVYT website www.tvyt.org.uk.

Of course, you can also turn up on the evening and pay at the door, but to avoid disappointment, pre-booking is recommended as space in the Millennium Hall is limited.

YOU will remember how exciting it was when Sandy Gardner and his team from St James’s found a memorial board listing the names and ranks of villagers who served in the forces in the First World War

Well the board is now safely stored until it can be renovated and mounted in a place where it can be read with great pride.

It wasn’t the only treasure to be discovered in the Church Cottage loft. One pew and four sections of pews were found which the parochial church council would be happy to sell .

It is the intention to sell the whole pew initially and the sections thereafter. Should you wish to view these items, please contact Sandy Gardner on 07881 696971.
