A NIGHT of fund-raising in Corbridge has raised £2,000 towards specialist cancer treatment for Tynedale youngster Kian Musgrove.

The story of the three-year-old, whose family and friends are battling to raise over £500,000 to get him to the USA or Germany for neuroblastoma treatment, inspired sisters Donna Forster and Lorna Burr to do their bit.

In less than two weeks they put together an event which featured rock and roll bingo, a grand prize raffle, a quiz and pie and peas supper at the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Corbridge.

The sold-out event took place on Saturday, with support from Del and Linda Peel, who run the Wheatsheaf.

Donna says she was bowled over by the support from the community.

“Everyone was so generous, and they just kept digging deep for more money for each part of the night,” she said.

The winner of the first prize in the raffle, which was £100 cash, donated the winnings to the appeal, while two local driving instructors stepped in to top up the £1,800 raised to £2,000.

The fund for Kian currently stands at over £276,000 and donations can be made online at kapipal.com/caringforkian
