OVER £1,200 has been raised for Brain Tumour Research by the family and friends of a Hexham man who died last August.
Lee Wise lost his battle on August 25, 2015, aged just 26, after being diagnosed with a gliobastoma multi-forme tumour which was inoperable.
And a year on from his death, friends and family gathered at Corbridge's Corstopitum Club for a family fun day in his honour.
"The day was fantastic and the local community really supported the day and evening," said the aunt of the former Queen Elizabeth High School student and talented chef, Liz Hardy.
"We were completely overawed."
As well as a bouncy castle, raffle, disco and live music in the evening, at 2pm a balloon release allowed people to pause and remember Lee.
The event was organised through Hexham's Virgin Money Store where Liz is store manager.
