DANISH teachers visited schools in Tynedale on Wednesday to see first-hand how the British education system operates.
A group of 13 educators from schools in Denmark stopped off at Corbridge Middle School and St Joseph's Middle School, in Hexham, as part of a visit to the North-East organised by Challenging Learning, an organisation which offers professional development programmes for teachers.
They spent a morning visiting classes and talking to pupils and teachers , as well as taking part in science and engineering lessons while at Corbridge.
Headteacher at Corbridge Middle School, Jane Kennedy, said: “They were interested in the UK education system and particularly in how students self and peer assess; how they use targets to improve their learning; how they are challenged in the classroom and how the learning environments promote collaborative work among students.”
Acting headteacher at St Joseph‘s Middle School, Fiona Conley, said: “They were impressed by the consistency of teaching and learning strategies and styles that were being used.
“It is important to be a part of initiatives like this as it provides the opportunity for teachers from different countries to discuss and share best practice.”
