THERE are major roadworks ahead commencing on Monday when contractors from Northumberland County Council will start resurfacing work on the B6350 west of Carrsfield and a point west of Howden Steading Farm.

This is due to finish on Friday, November 27, weather permitting.

CORBRIDGE Youth Initiative has combined with the Charlotte Straker Project to hold a Christmas fete in the parish hall from 10am until 2pm, tomorrow, with many assorted stalls and refreshments. Santa Claus will be making a guest appearance.

TOMORROW the Corbridge Christmas lights will be turned on at 4.30pm.

Meanwhile, most of the traders will be opening their doors every Sunday until Christmas from noon until 4pm.

CORBRIDGE’S flood defences held up last weekend. However in the Well Bank area the Tyne did break its banks and flooded fields west of Orchard Vale.

THE Milkwell development proposals by Gladman Developments drags on. Comments for the recent amended plans should reach Northumberland County Council by Friday, November 27.

Senior planning officer Bart Milburn advises it is not expected that the application will go to the committee stage until early in the new year.
