SOME parish councillors met highways officers last week to discuss traffic calming on St Helen’s Lane.

This issue became a policy in the 106 agreement when development at the Chains was permitted back in 2001. However, since then, despite meetings, nothing has happened. It is proposed to draw up a scheme and consult with all residents in that area.

NORTHUMBRIA Police hold a community surgery in the library on the morning of Saturday, June 4, with officers on hand to answer residents’ questions.

THE Red Cross Open Garden Scheme commences in our area on Sunday, June 5, when Stagshaw House opens its gardens to the public from midday until 5.30pm.

CORBRIDGE is to have a party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday on Sunday, June 12, at the parish hall. Tickets are available from Mandy Senior on 07891 011533, Pamela Proud 07938 986654, or from the tourist information centre on Hill Street.

THE new community defibrillator is now in place on Hill Street. It is understood some training on its use will take place in the near future.

CORBRIDGE cricketers lost at home last weekend to GEMs by 34 runs. The visitors were bowled out for 144, with Dean Robinson taking 7-40.

In reply, Corbridge could only make 110, Chris Fowler top scoring with 42. The 2nd XI also lost on their travels at Embleton.
