BUSINESSES in Corbridge have joined forces to stage a fund-raising fashion show to raise much-needed cash for two community charities.

The event, due to take place at the Angel Inn, on March 7, was dreamed up by trustees of Corbridge Youth Initiative and the Charlotte Straker care facility.

And with designs on raising enough to ensure both charities can tick items off their wish lists, trustees Angela Jones and Rosemary Rayfield have enlisted the help of retailers who work to stay one step ahead of current trends.

Outfits from Katie Kerr, Norma James and Shorts of Corbridge, plus shoes from Finale, will all be showcased on the night.

The Wedding Dress Company, in Corbridge, will be providing models in wedding dresses, along with mother of the bride, bridesmaid and flower girl outfits, while beauty experts from Reflections will be taking care of hair and make-up.

“The youth initiative needs to raise funds to cover the costs of activities during their summer scheme and Charlotte Straker has a list of items in mind which would make life easier for residents and staff,” explained Charlotte Straker’s marketing coordinator, Sally Urwin.

“We’ve been amazed by the support we’ve received from everyone.

“Corbridge businesses are sponsoring the welcome drinks, printing all tickets and posters and donating some amazing raffle prizes.”

Space is being reserved for stalls to allow other village businesses to showcase their products, including Kirsty Taylor Jewellery, French Beauty Lounge and The Pond.

Up to 80 tickets have been made available and are on sale at Katie Kerr, Norma James, Finale and Shorts.
