ONE of Corbridge’s best loved establishments is in for a facelift as new owners move in with big plans.

The Corbridge Larder has been bought by business partners and friends Nick Oliver and Jennifer Horton.

The pair have bought the popular delicatessen and cafe from owner David Robinson who has decided to concentrate on his Morpeth business.

Nick is the husband of Katie Oliver, one half of the duo behind the village’s two Katie Kerr clothing boutiques whose premises flank the Larder on Hill Street.

He said: “We have been friends with Jennifer and Bob for a while now and we were round at their house for dinner one night and got talking about food and opening a deli one day and that’s how the whole thing started.”

Having successfully purchased the business, the pair plan to keep its name and retain the current layout of a delicatessen store downstairs and a cafe upstairs.

But the Corbridge Larder’s doors are currently closed as extensive refurbishment and building work gets under way.

The delicatessen will be given a more contemporary look and the products on offer will be extended to include more organic and local produce.

The kitchens upstairs are also being made bigger to cater for the new look cafe which will offer a more extensive menu of fresh food.

Jennifer and Nick hope that the deli will open within the next week and the entire new look business will be up and running by the end of the month.
