UP to 800 vehicles, some dating back to the 1930s, will be lining up to be admired in Corbridge on Sunday.

The annual Classics in Corbridge event, organised by the MG Northumbria car club and held at Tynedale Park, has become one of the North of England‘s biggest car shows since it was launched in 2006.

This year, 350 cars will be brought along by car clubs from across the North while vintage, veteran and classic cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles will make up the rest of the exhibits.

Trophies will be handed out for best in class, best in show, best club stand and even best costume, if enough people are dressed in clothes from the period appropriate to their vehicle.

Live music, archery, a dog agility display, children’s rides, alpacas and up to 40 trade stands promise to make the show a day out for all the family.

MG Northumbria club member, George Hunter, said: “We had 630 vehicles last year, so the 800 we’re expecting this time around is a big increase.

“We’ve done a lot to increase the amount of other attractions and hope to raise as much money as possible on the day.”

The show, which is open between 11am and 4pm, supports local charities.

Last year the event raised £18,000.
