Chloe Nixon (19), from Corbridge, works within a team of staff at Charlotte Straker care home in the village, which looks after the needs of 30 frail, elderly or disabled residents.
She was presented with the award, after being nominated by her colleagues, in a ceremony held at the home last Thursday.
“It was great to win,” Chloe said. “I think there were 20 other people nominated, so it was a lovely surprise to get the flowers, prosecco and a gift voucher as well.”
Marilyn Hunter, manager of Charlotte Straker, said: “We are delighted that Chloe has received this award. She joined us in May 2015, and she has worked extremely hard.
“She has been dedicated in providing care and support to our residents; our team are very proud of her.”
Bill Cunningham, chairman of Charlotte Straker, said: “I am really pleased that Chloe’s quiet care and expertise has been acknowledged by this award.
“She has made a great contribution to our team.
“We will miss her as she will be joining Northumbria University to undertake a nursing degree this year but are sure she will make a wonderful nurse.”
