A FORMER Tynedale resident is preparing to take the plunge to raise funds for Northumberland County Blind Association.

Rob Davies is planning a 60ft abseil, from the Constable Tower of Bamburgh Castle, despite the fact he has been totally blind for the last 10 years.

The 74-year-old, who was born in Corbridge and grew up in Hexhamshire, said: “I lead a fairly full life, but like all visually-impaired people, I often need advice and support. That’s why I am fund-raising for Northumberland County Blind Association, so that people can be assured of help and support whenever they need it.”
