HERE are some of the best five restaurants in Hexham and district areas according to Tripadvisor reviewers.

1. The Natural Grocer Market & Social

A unique venue that serves British and Spanish cuisine on Cattle Market in Hexham.

JneCha reviewed the business this month and called it a 'a fantastic find'.

They said: "A great little restaurant and grocer selling and serving locally sourced produce. The menu with its tapas style food was excellent. Very tasty and perfectly sized. The husband and wife team were really engaging and passionate about their food and wine. We will certainly return."

2. Little Mexico

Mexican restaurant on Market Street in Hexham.

colettej508 from Prudhoe called said 'this is real Mexican food'.

They said: "Absolutely brilliant. Cannot fault either the food or the service. So welcoming, great atmosphere.

"We were asked individually how spicy we liked our food. I wasn’t sure if I could handle real spicy so I was given a little pot of hot sauce on the side to spice it if I needed it. My hubby asked for no salsa as he’s not keen on chunky onion, so they puréed it so he got the taste but not the texture.

"Honestly absolutely faultless. And the margaritas are amazing.
We’ll definitely be back. Some of the best food and service we have had in a very long time.
Prices very reasonable too, shared starter, 3 mains, shared dessert, a beer, margarita and fresh squeezed juice for £60."

3. Restaurant Pine

Rij85 called the business on Vallum Farm, Military Rd, East Wallhouses 'a bit of magic beside the Wall'.

"What can I say about my first visit to Pine in Northumberland ……….wow …it was just pure magic !

"It is hidden in a farm industrial complex 8 miles from Newcastle on Hadrians wall , not a normal spot for a top end eating establishment ….but without any shadow of a doubt this is top end in terms of imaginative , clever , often brilliant cooking .

"You are taken on a journey of sustainable ingredients throughout the menu which never stops giving in terms of bursts of flavour …….with lots of surprises .

"Simple ingredients, locally sourced can produce extraordinary dishes …..the bbq bream , the King Edward potato dish , the Hogget broth , the Scallop dish the honeycomb desert all totally fantastic and I could mention many more things I loved .

"But a good eating place needs a good vibe and a great atmosphere and the team at Pine are a great bunch of people , a great team led by Sian and Cal ……..but the rest of the team all play there part everyone showing great knowledge and all the food and wine and very friendly and welcoming .

"I could go on but I cannot really explain it all , you must go there experience for yourself but do not book every table because I need to go back again ."

4. Fountain Cottage Cafe and B&B Bellingham

Thie month Jakeskiego visited the business. They said: "I came here with a mate who lives in Bellingham for lunch.

"I was expecting to find limited vegan options out in the stick but alas, I was proven welcomingly wrong! They had an enormous range of options as well as plant-based milk for the hot drinks, plant-based cheese, plant-based ice and more. Unfortunately, they had ran out of some of the veggies for the Sunday dinner so only charged me the kids price despite making up for it with extra of the veggies they did have.

"The staff were super friendly and helpful, and I'd recommend Fountain Cottage Café to anyone in the area. Very impressive and a credit to Bellingham!"

5. Hjem

The resturant based at The Hadrian Hotel, Front St, Wall, Hexham was reviewed this month by Micherru who said it was 'well worth the trip'.

They added: "Absolutely stand out cooking worth more than the one star they’ve currently got. "The snacks at the beginning of the meal were mind blowing. You can feel the passion and effort in this restaurant and everything about the place is just lovely. Breakfast gorgeous. The young team trained so well and so full of enthusiasm. Even the playlist is cool in an inclusive, fun but personal way.

"The sommelier has built a brilliant, interesting wine list at very good value for this quality. The lodge we stayed in was lovely and super comfy bed.

"The all inclusive mini bar a little extra touch of thoughtfulness that adds to feeling special.

"All but the most die hard meat and two vegers would love it here. Well well worth the trip. Just be warned it could ruin going anywhere else as it’s hard to bump back to reality after an idyllic trip to Wall."
