THE home of one of Tynedale’s largest employers has a new look thanks to a £25 million global re-brand.

New illuminated signs have been installed across the front of the Essity tissue mill on Princess Way Prudhoe, formerly known as SCA Hygiene.

The change of name follows a separation of the hygiene and health business from its forest products operation, and a new listing on the Swedish stock market.

Prudhoe Mill manager George Placogiannakis said: “Although the change of name to Essity came about last year it is only this week that the bold and bright new signage has appeared on the front of the mill.

"With 118 sites around the world to re-brand, it took us a little while to get them all completed.

“But it was worth waiting for, and our 420 employees no longer have to explain the old signs above the door.

“It’s been a great month for those of us who work in Prudhoe, as we were delighted to have also been picked by local MP Guy Opperman as the Hexham constituency’s Responsible Business Champion for 2018 in recognition of the work we do in the community.”

Prudhoe Mill is the home of toilet tissue brand Velvet and has also just started production of the Cushelle range, following a £12m investment by Essity to boost through-air-dried tissue manufacturing in the UK.
