A SURVEY of how prepared North-East businesses feel they are for Brexit was launched on Monday to gather views to send to the Government.

Organised by North East England Chamber of Commerce (NEECC), the survey asks what effect Brexit is likely to have on their business and how prepared they are for operating their business outside the EU.

Chief executive of the NEECC James Ramsbotham said: “We believe it is imperative that the Government is made aware, and takes note of, the issues of concern and possible impact on business as they prepare for Brexit.

“Our survey of members will demonstrate clearly opinions of a wide section of North-East members from SMEs to larger multi-nationals.”

The survey also asks which elements of Brexit could affect a business most, from a change in VAT, access to an EU workforce or potential difficulties in trading arrangements.

There is an opportunity for all companies responding to also put their own question to the Government on Brexit, which the Chamber will pass on to the appropriate ministers.

The survey will close in mid-September, with the results released in late September and included in a submission to the Government.

The responses will support the Chamber Brexit Task Group’s work to help prepare its members for Brexit.
