BARRASFORD Marrow Show returned raised a whopping £1,800 for local charities.

The show, which has been running for 30 years, is well-known for getting kind-hearted locals involved in raising money for good causes.

Locals gathered in the Barrasford Arms for the show, which was held on the evening of Saturday, October 1.

All 25 members of the show submitted marrows, judged by expert marrow grower Chris Gray, from Bedlington, and Ray Regan was crowned the winner.

The money raised has been split between the Great North Air Ambulance Service and the Newcastle Urology Fund at the Freeman Hospital. After the judging, the first few marrows were sold, followed by other produce and baked goods. There was also entertainment and live music to top off a successful evening.
