THE MURC coffee morning last Saturday was a real success with excellent support from the village.

About 30 people dropped in for a cuppa and a cake, or biscuit, and the event raised £311 – almost exactly what it raised last year.

I UNDERSTAND our bus timetable changed on Monday. There are some vital changes. For instance, the very first bus from the village to Hexham now goes at 6.50am, which is a few minutes earlier than it did before, and the next one goes at 8am rather than 8.05am.

The service is now operated by Go North East and will be service 680. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to find a link to the timetable online, but I’ll let you know what it is when I do.

THE Stonehaugh Village Greens group will be holding a summer picnic and barbecue on Saturday, August 15. People are invited to bring a picnic, or enjoy the barbecue with a glass of bubbly, or a Pimms cocktail.

I’m sure we are all due a nice sunny afternoon and probably deserve several, but should it decide to rain, there is a beautiful new marquee in which people can keep dry. The picnic and barbecue start at 2pm.

IF you ever want to publicise an event, or a report on something that has been going on in the village, or surrounding areas, you’re very welcome to contact me.

As I’ve mentioned before, these notes are usually written on Sunday evening, so any items need to be with me before then.

You can contact me by phone on (01434) 230605; by email at peter@samsom.co.uk; you can post a note through our letterbox at 3, Hexham Road; or you could even talk to me. I’m always happy to have more news to report!

FINALLY, a quick reminder that the Town Hall jumble sale is also on Saturday, August 15. You can still contribute jumble, books, bric-a-brac etc and can contact Judith Weir on Tel. (01434) 230250 to arrange drop-off. The jumble sale itself opens at 1pm.
