CHILDREN at Wark First School have put their best feet forward in an annual race.

Children from both the first school and pre-school took part in the Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research.

The total so far is around £400 and sponsor money is still being counted.

When a total is finalised, there will also be a trophy for the child who raised the most money.

Usually held on the village green, the race had to be held inside because of the inclement weather, but this didn’t dampen the children’s spirits.

Headteacher Amanda Lewis said: “It was a lovely atmosphere and a really good turn-out from the people in the village.

“The event has been running here for about four years and it’s always been such a success.

“The Race for Life is a great way to raise awareness of the cancer research charity and it gets the whole family involved for a really good cause.”
