CHURCHES Together in Falstone’s next Messy Church group will take place on Sunday, at the United Reformed Church from 3pm to 5pm. The theme this time is Pentecost, so there will be the opportunity to learn how to make doily doves, paint a collage, make fiery headdresses, make prayer clouds, decorate digestive biscuits and lots more. Children are encouraged to bring an adult or two along with them. For more details, contact Brenda Ormesher 240388 or Jill Swaile 240168.

THE tenth Kielder Vintage and Classic Vehicle Show will be held this weekend. On Saturday, the vehicles will start out from the Heritage Centre, in Bellingham, at 11am and will cover approximately 50 miles (with a stop for lunch) and finishing at Kielder Castle. ON Thursday, May 19, there will be a soup and pudding event in Falstone United Reformed Church, from 1pm till 2pm. Why not save yourself some washing whilst enjoying a good natter and some tasty food?

ST Aidan’s, at Thorneyburn, will be holding an after lambing service on Sunday, May 22, at 11.30am (11am for communion). This will be followed by grass-cutting and a churchyard tidy up, finishing with a barbecue. Everyone is invited and it’s definitely the case that many hands make light work. If you have family buried at Thorneyburn, it’s a great opportunity to check the gravestones and spruce up the graves. Come along and enjoy the informal service and get-together. You may even see a red squirrel if you’re lucky! Please bring something to drink and something to put on the barbecue.
