A SEARCH was launched in Bellingham on Saturday after a 12-year-old girl was reported missing from home.
Police say the report came in at around 10pm and officers worked through the night to scour the North Tyne, with the help of a helicopter deployed by the National Police Air Service.
Due to the rural terrain, 25 mountain rescue volunteers from the North of Tyne and Northumberland National Park teams were called out to help at about 3am on Sunday morning.
Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team members provided further support to search river banks in the area.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said the 12-year-old girl was located safe and well around 9.30am on Sunday and reunited with her family.
