PREVIOUS autumns have seen Elsdon residents planting bulbs around the village to brighten the spring.

If anyone would like to help this year, please just turn up at 10am on Elsdon Village Green on Saturday, October 24, for an hour or so of communal digging and planting.

Please take along a spade or trowel and wear suitable clothing. Any spare bulbs, such as daffodils or crocuses, would be very welcome.

THE next of the popular fund-raising quizzes at Otterburn Castle Hotel will be held on Wednesday, October 14, starting at 8pm.

The quiz is in aid of the children’s Christmas party fund.

As usual, the small entry charge includes a light supper and the organisers will welcome donated raffle prizes. Everyone is welcome.

ELSDON parish is in the process of installing community audio visual equipment at Elsdon Village Hall and will be restarting the popular film club soon.

The project to install a screen, projector and sound system has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme, with additional support from Doorstep Pictures and Elsdon Village Hall, and gives the parish access to the equipment for films, presentations, training and gaming.

The equipment is currently being installed by volunteers and blackout curtains will be hung soon.

I hope to report a date for the official opening of the new film club in these notes in the near future and to provide details of a new and exciting programme of films and other activities for local people of all ages.
