THE Horsley organ restoration group held a very successful community get-together last Friday at Rochester Village Hall.

The hall was filled to capacity for the event, which promoted the work undertaken by the group and featured performances by local musicians.

The children of Otterburn First School, playing their ocarinas and singing, delighted the audience with their rendition of Have you seen the muffin man.

They were followed by the gifted Jack Famelton, playing the Northumbrian Pipes.

The music of the Uketeers demonstrated the versatility of the ukulele, while that of Richie Gray and Terry Hagan evoked memories of the 1970s rock scene.

Ian Brown entertained with classic songs and some of his own compositions.

The headline act was Landermason, whose blend of traditional and contemporary folk music was much appreciated.

Carrol Armstrong provided a delicious supper and members of the committee and others baked tray bakes and cakes.

The raffle and other donations raised £159, which was used to offset some of the costs of the evening. The organisers are to be congratulated for such a successful and entertaining event.

OTTERBURN’S under-11 footballers played Cramlington last Sunday, winning the game 8-2.

The club would like to thank both Wark Sports Club and Wark Football Club for the hire of their pitch and facilities. Thanks are also due to Stonehaugh Hall, the match sponsor.

The village’s under-13 team should also have played Cramlington, but the game was cancelled and Otterburn were awarded the points.

Both teams play at home this Sunday, weather permitting.
