A POPULAR North Tyne hotel has been named among the top hotels in the country as it earned another prestigious accolade.

Battlesteads Hotel and Restaurant in Wark has been awarded an Editor’s Choice Cesar Award for Best Value by the Good Hotel Guide 2017.

The Cesar Awards, named after the celebrated hotelier Cesar Ritz, are among the most coveted awards in the hotel industry and only 10 are awarded each year.

Battlesteads is also named in the Good Hotel Guide’s list of 20 editor’s choice hotelsas the best green hotel in the country.

The Good Hotel Guide describes Battlesteads as a very special place and: “A characterful, modern pub and hotel with invariably friendly, helpful and efficient staff.”

Owners Richard and Dee Slade were presented with the award at the launch of the Good Hotel Guide 2017 at Daunt Books in London.

Richard said: “It’s a fabulous honour to be awarded a Good Hotel Guide Cesar award.

“We strive to offer excellent value for money while maintaining our commitment to sustainable tourism and we hope that many Good Hotel Guide readers will visit in the coming year to see what we have to offer for themselves.”

This latest honour is the third awarded to the hotel in the last month.

On Friday, October 7, Battlesteads won the travel award at the P.E.A (People, Environment, Action), awards for its commitment to sustainability.

And on September 26 it was named Eco Hotel of the Year at the AA Hospitality Awards.
